Because the mohair fibre is hollow, it absorbs excess moisture from the skin, helping to keep one's feet dry. The hollow fibre also means that if the socks become wet through immersion in water (ie falling in or going over the top of one's boots) if they are wrung out and put out to dry, they will also dry very quickly.
